We have five campuses in Southampton, with a range of study, leisure and sports facilities. The Highfield and Avenue Campuses are located close to Southampton Common which is perfect for walking, jogging or a spontaneous game of football or frisbee. Our Winchester campus houses the Winchester School of Art. Southampton is one of the most lively and dynamic cities on the south coast with over 40,000 students. It offers a vibrant and varied nightlife, great shopping options, numerous leisure facilities, superb heritage attractions, bustling marinas, beautiful parks and great places to eat and drink.
Courses and Careers
At Southampton we are committed to providing you with an outstanding learning experience. Across our eight Faculties our wide range of undergraduate courses enables you to tailor your degree to your needs. We offer flexibility and choice, allowing you to study a range of themes around your chosen subject area, including Major/minor options. Depending on the course you choose you could take part in field trips, laboratory study, excavations, private and public sector placements, group projects and perhaps use our world-class facilities such as the Southampton Flight Simulator or our RJ Mitchell Wind Tunnel. You will have opportunities to gain the transferable skills employers really want, such as teamwork, leadership and learning another language. We offer placement opportunities to provide concrete work experience to develop you skills support with making job applications.
The University is a friendly and welcoming place, and student life on campus is vibrant and dynamic. As part of our global community, you'll have opportunities to work, live and socialise with students from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. We provide a wealth of social and leisure activities for students, staff and members of the public - including cafes, restaurants, bars, shop, medical centres, the Nuffield Theatre, Turner Sims Concert Hall, John Hansard Gallery, cinema, 1700 capacity nightclub and great sporting facilities, including an £8.5million sports centre.
As a Southampton student, you will automatically become a member of the Students' Union. SUSU is led by students for the benefit and interest of students. It's here to represent your voice on issues at local, national and international level and fantastic facilities and services providing a thriving social scene for all our different communities of students as well as advice and support. We have over 200 societies and 80 sports clubs so there is something for everyone!
