Cardiff University

Founded in 1883, Cardiff is a member of the Russell Group of universities. Our 27,000 students, drawn from across the UK and world-wide, are attracted by our excellent, international reputation and benefit from outstanding teaching in a stimulating, research led environment.

Our courses

We are proud of the flexible structure of many of our degree courses and offer more than 300 different degree programmes at undergraduate level. In many cases, students can delay their final choice of degree subject(s) until the end of their first year and, in certain areas of study, students can tailor their degree programme to suit their particular interests or career ambitions. Cardiff also offers courses containing vocational and professional content, along with exciting European and international exchange opportunities, allowing students to study part of their degree overseas.

Supportive academic environment

The University has a range of systems in place to help facilitate a friendly and supportive academic environment. All first year students who apply to us through the normal UCAS cycle are guaranteed a place in one of our 14 halls of residence or University owned accommodation. Our vibrant Students’ Union, home to a diverse range of clubs and societies, also provides a comprehensive range of welfare and advisory services.

Student experience

Cardiff achieved excellent results in the National Student Survey and was in the top five of Russell Group universities for overall student satisfaction. The advantages of being located in a friendly, modern capital city, combined with our reputation for academic excellence, means that Cardiff offers students a superb environment in which to live and study.

Watch these videos in which the students, who are all the first in their families to go to University, talk about what prompted them to apply and how they've benefited from this experience to date.
