Teachers

UNet is a partnership of six leading universities Bath, Cardiff, Oxford, Reading, Southampton and Imperial College, London. We all offer intensive programmes of activity for high achieving sixth form and college students from under-represented groups designed to:

  • enhance the post-16 curriculum and improve grades
  • develop academic and independent study skills
  • provide support with choices and applications

Informed choice

While we want to encourage progression to our own universities, our main aim is to ensure that students choose the university and degree course that best suits their needs. Together UNet universities offer an extensive range of academic opportunities and a variety of facilities on both campus-based and city-based sites. Our ‘Choices’ conference provides in-depth information about courses and university life at all our universities helping students to make an informed decision and a competitive application.

Admissions

We also understand the aims and content of each other’s outreach programmes and recognise their value. This provides us with important additional information to help us assess students’ academic potential at the point of application.

Videos

We've produced some informative videos which you can watch with your students. All of those featured are the first in their families to go to University. They explain what prompted them to apply and how they have benefited from their experience to date. We hope your own students are inspired!

Choices Conference

UNet partners organise an annual Choices Conference for students planning to make an application to a leading university in the region. Students have the opportunity to: attend a Higher Education Fair; participate in workshops to help them choose the right course; take part in UCAS personal statement sessions; find out about student budgeting; and explore career opportunities with graduates.

Our next conference is on 24th June 2016 at the University of Reading. Please click here to view the Teachers' programme.
